Be the Connection Someone Needs
Volunteer with Momentum for Good
Volunteers are the heart of Momentum for Good. When someone reaches out for help, our volunteers are often the first caring voice they hear—and that connection matters.
As a Momentum for Good volunteer, you serve as a trusted liaison between individuals in need and the resources available in our community. You won’t be expected to have all the answers or manage relationships on your own. We provide the tools, resource lists, and ongoing support. Volunteers work directly with our team to listen, gather basic information, and help connect people to the right next steps.
By answering phones and offering compassionate guidance, volunteers help ensure that no one feels lost, rushed, or alone when asking for help. Your time, empathy, and presence create real momentum—turning a moment of need into a moment of hope.
What Volunteers Do
Volunteer Resource Liaisons serve as a caring first point of contact for people reaching out for help. Volunteers answer calls during scheduled shifts, listen with empathy, ask a few guided questions, and use our provided resource list to help connect individuals and families to the right next steps. You’ll document the request, share clear options, and complete simple follow-up when assigned—always with support from our team.
Time Committment
Volunteer shifts are typically 2–4 hours and scheduled based on your availability. You can volunteer weekly, biweekly, or monthly depending on what fits your life. Follow-up is minimal and supported, with outreach usually completed within 24–48 hours when assigned.
Training & Support
All volunteers complete onboarding and training before taking calls. Training covers how to use scripts, gather information respectfully, navigate the resource directory, document requests, and escalate urgent situations to leadership. You’ll also have ongoing support through check-ins and access to guidance whenever you need it, so you always feel confident and supported.
What to Expect
Volunteering with Momentum for Good is structured, supported, and designed to feel manageable. You will never be expected to know everything, solve complex situations alone, or manage partner relationships. We provide scripts, tools, and clear boundaries so you can focus on what matters most—listening, caring, and helping someone take action.
Who is This a Good Fit For?
This role is a great fit for people who are compassionate listeners, calm under pressure, and comfortable communicating by phone. You don’t need a background in social services—just a steady presence, a willingness to follow a clear process, and a genuine desire to help others take the next step. If you’re reliable, respectful, and able to maintain confidentiality, you’ll likely thrive in this role.
How to Get Started
Getting started is simple. Complete the volunteer application, attend onboarding and training, and then choose shifts that work for you. Once you’re trained, you’ll be ready to begin supporting individuals and families in a meaningful way—one call, one connection, and one next step at a time.
